Google Ads for dentists

Someone searching for dental implants, clear aligners or an emergency dentist is close to booking. But an implant case and an emergency appointment are worth very different amounts to you. Arête runs fixed-fee Google Ads campaigns split by treatment and location. Reports focus on what matters: booked consultations.

The situation

Why your customers are searching.

In most towns you're bidding against independents, corporate groups and treatment-specific clinics, and implant and aligner clicks can be expensive. Send every search to the homepage, or count every call as a lead, and it's hard to tell which treatments pay back. Three things make the budget accountable. Structure by treatment, honest ad copy and consultation tracking per location.

What sends them looking

  • A missing tooth, a loose denture or a failed bridge that starts the research into implants.
  • Wanting to change how their teeth look before a big event, or after years of putting it off.
  • No local NHS dentist taking on new patients.
  • Dental pain or a broken tooth that needs an emergency appointment in the next day or two.
  • Years of avoiding the dentist through anxiety, finally outweighed by a problem that needs attention.

The problem

What costs dentists work.

Where the work slips away

  • Turning implant, aligner and composite bonding searches into booked consultations, instead of quick price checks that go nowhere.
  • Showing before-and-after cases that meet ASA rules and GDC guidance and still help patients decide.
  • Being upfront about NHS availability without putting off private enquiries or implying NHS places that don't exist.
  • Presenting finance accurately. Promoting consumer credit brings its own FCA rules.
  • Keeping each practice's clinicians, services and booking routes separate across a multi-site group.

What makes customers hesitate

  • What the whole treatment will cost, and whether they can spread the payments.
  • Will it hurt? And will the dentist be patient with someone who's nervous?
  • Whether this dentist has proper experience in the treatment they need.
  • Whether the consultation is free, and whether they'll be pressed to go ahead on the day.

How it helps

What Google Ads changes.

  • Implant, aligner, bonding, emergency and new patient searches run as separate campaigns with their own budgets and landing pages.
  • Ad copy says exactly what's on offer, such as a consultation fee or finance availability. No promised results, no unsupported specialist titles.
  • Searches for NHS-only care, home aligner kits and dental training are excluded where they don't match your services.
  • Each practice in a group has its own location targeting and conversion tracking.

What you get

Campaigns by treatment value

Separate campaigns for implants, aligners, cosmetic treatments, emergency appointments and new patients, so budget follows the treatments you want to grow.

Landing page recommendations per treatment

A review of each treatment page the ads will point to, with specific changes to journey, fees, finance and booking information where they're needed.

Emergency call campaigns in opening hours

Call-focused ads for urgent dental searches, scheduled to run only when reception can answer.

Consultations tracked per practice

Booked consultations and qualifying calls recorded as conversions for each practice, without passing patient details to Google.

Finance wording checked before use

Any finance or monthly payment wording in ads checked against your credit provider's requirements before it goes live.

Monthly report by treatment and practice

Spend, consultations booked and cost per consultation for each treatment and location.

Measurement

The enquiries that count, tracked properly.

What counts as an enquiry

  • An implant, aligner or other treatment consultation booked online.
  • A new patient examination booked or requested.
  • A call from your website or an ad, emergency calls included.
  • A callback request from someone who wants to talk through options or finance before committing to a consultation.

What gets tracked

  • Booked consultations per treatment campaign and per practice.
  • What each implant or aligner consultation costs, set against what a typical case is worth to you.
  • Emergency call volume and answered rate within scheduled hours.
  • Search terms reviewed regularly for NHS-only and irrelevant intent.

Worth knowing

What customers check, and the rules to follow.

What customers look for before they call

  • Clinician profiles with names, qualifications and GDC registration numbers.
  • Genuine, consented case photographs that represent typical results for the treatment.
  • Fees or starting prices for consultations and the main treatments, stated upfront.
  • Independent patient reviews, on Google and on your own site.
  • A plain walk-through of each treatment journey, from first consultation to aftercare and retainers.

Rules worth knowing

  • The GDC expects advertising to be accurate and not misleading, and its guidance sets out details practice websites should show, including clinicians' GDC registration numbers.
  • Only dentists on a GDC specialist list can describe themselves as specialists.
  • The ASA expects before-and-after images to be genuine and not altered to exaggerate results, and a 'free' consultation must cost the patient nothing at all.
  • Promoting treatment finance is a consumer credit financial promotion, so the wording must follow FCA rules and is usually agreed with the finance provider.

Straight answer

Is it right for you?

Implants and aligners above all, plus other private treatments people search for by name. Get the landing pages and reception follow-up ready first. Then launch.

Made for

  • Practices with capacity for implant, aligner or cosmetic consultations and a clinician ready to see them.
  • Practice groups wanting to direct spend towards specific locations or treatments.
  • Practices with good treatment pages, or willing to improve them, for ads to land on.

Not for

  • Practices looking mainly to attract NHS patients, where demand usually exceeds available places without advertising.
  • Practices that cannot answer calls or respond to online consultation requests promptly.
  • Practices wanting price-led claims they cannot substantiate, such as the cheapest implants in town.

Starting price

What moves the price

  • Number of campaigns, services and locations
  • How much conversion tracking is already in place

Questions

Google Ads for dentists: your questions answered

Which dental treatments are usually worth running on Google Ads?

Implants, clear aligners, composite bonding and emergency appointments top the list, because people search for them by name. Each case matters to the practice. Routine check-ups and hygiene appointments are better served by your website, Google Business Profile and recalls. The final mix comes down to your capacity and which clinicians are available.

Can dental ads mention finance or monthly payments?

They can, but any mention of finance is a consumer credit promotion, and quoting a monthly payment or interest rate usually means a representative example is needed. Agree the wording with your credit provider, which knows what its arrangements allow. If the full wording won't fit in an ad, a simple line saying finance is available, with the details on the landing page, is often the cleaner option.
